2010 is coming to a close and 2011 is QUICKLY approaching!

So Christmas has come and gone and up next...New Years! In my family New Year's Eve was fun as a kid. My mom and us kids would make little appetizers to snack on and we would always have a champagne (okay, sparkling cider) toast at midnight. It was exciting to be so young and be allowed to stay up to midnight and to see if I could even make it to the ball drop. As I got older though, those feelings of excitement faded and now New Year's Eve is kind of a bummer night. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've had some pretty fun New Year's Eve nights to remember!! :) And after those New Year's Eve late nights, I've almost always been lucky enough not to suffer too badly on New Year's Day, with the exception of my junior year in college. ;-) But I don't know what it is about this holiday that gets me down in the dumpers? Maybe it's the close of one year and the start of another that reminds me that I'm getting older? Or the New Year's song that I don't know the words to or even understand?? Maybe it's the cheesy midnight kiss?? Who knows, but I just don't like this holiday!!! This year I just feel like staying home. The idea of hitting the town just isn't all that appealing. Living in Raleigh there are about a million things to do, but after checking out a couple websites I just don't see anything all that fun that doesn't involve boozing or large crowds of people. My dad makes me laugh because he always calls New Years "amateur night." He says it's a night for people who don't go out to go out, get trashed, and drink and drive. He's right though if you think about it!!

I enjoy New Year's Day though. I love eating pork, sauerkraut, and black eyed peas for good luck. I've grown up eating this meal every New Years Day for as long as I can remember! YUM!! This year, I'm celebrating New Years with Jeff and am certainly looking forward to this dinner! He's been trying to convince me to go downtown but I just don't know?? At first he suggested getting gussied up and hitting the town, but the idea of a bar crowd is just blah to me! Then he suggested we watch the acorn drop, but the thought of shivering and watching an acorn drop seems kind of boring AND cold!!

Who knows what New Year's Eve will bring? One thing I do know though is this, 2011 is going to be an AWESOME year!! I'm looking forward to putting my resolutions into play and rockin' and rollin' with them!! I'll see you all next year!!! :)

Merry Christmas!

Well it's here, Christmas Day, 2010. I hope you are all enjoying your day as much as I am. It's been a great morning! Lots of gifts left by Santa and a whole lot of love in our hearts. Christmas at the Pride house has always been so much fun! When we were kids it was always so exciting at Christmas. 7 children excitedly opening stockings and playing with all of our toys. In my family Santa displays our gifts. All of our gifts are left in nice little displays; each display personalized by the different personalities of 6 girls and 1 boy. As I've gotten older, and became a teacher, it's not hard to find my gifts. This year it was the Shel Silverstein, Where the Sidewalk Ends book and the 4 packs of sillybandz that hinted to me that the display under the tree was intended for me. Besides the book of poetry and bracelets, Santa left me lots of jewelery. I received a pair of silver Swarovski earrings, a pair of gold earrings and hoop necklace from Tori Spelling's collection, lots of other cute silver and gold costume jewelry, and my FAVORITE gift this year is a trinity cross that is three pieces that links perfectly into a BEAUTIFUL cross. I also received some food storage containers, rocket grill, Coach key chain, makeup with brushes, jewelry case, and a few other goodies. All in all, Santa was very good to me!! :) :) :) Here are a few pictures of my gifts:

LOTS of jewelry!!! I love everything I received!

Here are a few other pictures from Christmas morning:

Meredith and Brent with their Christmas pups!
My mom liked her fleece jacket. It was too big though. :(
Savannah is the fattest cat ever!!!!
Pretty Meredith. :)
The sunlamp Santa brought Dominique to help her through those dark Alaskan winters.
Gotta love the pups!

Christmas day was a complete success! But in my family, we love Christmas Eve best. We always have a light dinner and tasty hor d'oeuvres, including my mom's famous holiday dip! YUM!!!! After we eat, we usually go to Christmas Eve service. Christmas Eve service was great this year. I just love singing my heart out to Christmas carols! :) After church it's time to open sibling gifts!!! We draw names at Thanksgiving and then buy a gift for 50 dollars. Even though we're supposed to only buy for that one sibling, we always seem to get a little something for everyone. This year I had Meredith for the exchange. I bought her some jewelery and I made her a scrap book on She's had a rough year with her health, so the book was really appropriate for her. She cried and so did we when she looked through it.

Meredith's bling bling ring from me!

I bought her an angel pin.

I loved this necklace and I knew she would too!

When she first saw the book. By far the best gift of 2010 in the Pride family.

Meredith is still teary eyed!

Here are a few more pics from the Christmas Eve sibling gift exchange:

It's almost time to open!!! Take note of the FANTASTICAL leg lamp. Surely, you've seen the Christmas Story!! :)

Dominique and Courtney

brother and sister----so silly!

They're all MINE!

Roy and Dominique

Mom opening a couple gifts.

The pups loved their gifts.

Shannon bought Dominique Flower Bomb perfume.

I bought Courtney (Lulu) a little something...a lovely sister picture. :)

Roy bought Dominique some UAF (University of Alaska at Fairbanks) and Marshall University alumna gear. She holding up two fingers to show she has two degrees.

Courtney's gag gift = 72 rolls of toilet paper.

Courtney bought me a cute headband and Dominique bought me a handmade ribbon necklace in Alaska.

Gotta rock out the UAF sweatshirt!!!

My brother bought me some Alaskan Scrimshaw earrings on ancient ivory. Scrimshaw means etched bone.

Shannon loved her wine basket from Meredith. I did too!!! :)

Christmas, 2010 was a HUGE success!!! The best gift I got this year is the gift of family. I am so blessed to have this crazy lil' family of mine!!! Merry Christmas!! :) :) :)

How are you??!!

Well HELLO there!! Holy cow it's been MONTHS since I blogged. I guess there's been so much going on I haven't had much time to write. Oh please, I'm just lazy and at one point I forgot I even had a blog!! YIKES!

So...what I'm going to do is just highlight some key events that have gone on in the past months. Of course this will be done with picture...because I LOVE pictures!!! So...let the fun begin! :)

On September 11th, my sweet friend Andrea was married in Beckeley, WV. Anna B. and I were lucky enough to join in the fun!

This was how the guest's signed their "guest book." Everyone stamped their thumb print. Super creative!

Pictures of the bride and groom as kids.
The bride!! Andrea looked BEAUTIFUL!!
Anna B., Andrea, and myself. SMILE!
They had a cupcake cake...Andrea baked them herself!

On September 17th, Jenn and I met Nicholas Sparks and had our copy of his new book Safe Haven autographed. It was actually pretty exciting to meet him.

Jenn and I waiting in line to meet Sparks!
Almost there!
Nicholas Sparks and ME!!!!

Angie, Jenn, Rebekah, and I went to see Sugarland on October 2nd. We had a blast!!! :)

Ang and I
Jenn and me
Rebekah and I got a quick pic together making our way to the lawn.
Jenn, Angie, and me
Coors light and a Monster energy drink. We're ready to roll!!

Angie and I ran the Eve Carson 5k together on November 6th. We ran it together last year too. We ROCKED this race!!!! And over 27,000 was raised in Eve's honor. :)

Hanging out inside stretching. Not only was it FREEZING, but it was raining too!

Ready to run the race!
We finished and did awesome!!
I love that Ang and I were able to be apart of such a great thing.
I stepped in a mud puddle on our way to the starting line.

Jenn and her boyfriend Josh and Jeff and I went out for dinner and drinks on Halloween. Later, Tim met up with us and I stole part of his costume. Gotta love the hat and shades!!

Jenn's boyfriend paid for their dinner at Five Star with a hundy. Us poor school teachers don't often have the luxury of holding a 100 dollar bill. I had to live the moment and freeze it in time with a quick snap!

Jenn posed too!
At the Big Easy.

Hahaha. :) :) :)

Well there you have it!!!! That's what I've been up to!!! Next up on the blog...CHRISTMAS!!! See you then!
